Merry Christmas! Welcome to the Christmas Christian Fiction Scavenger Hunt!
Here’s how it works: At each author’s blog post, you will find a question that can be answered by checking out the free Amazon preview of their book. Provide the answer at this form. Note: You must answer the questions for every author in the round -robin to be considered to win the $250 first place, $150 second place or $100 third place Amazon gift cards. These prizes are USD values. If you are not a U.S. resident, you will get a gift card from the Amazon store for your country; however, it will be valued at these USD amounts.)
At the end of my post is a link to the next blog, who will provide a link to the next blog, etc., to the very end, creating a circle (a round-robin) visit through all of the authors’ blogs.
So, let me tell you all about THE ORNAMENT KEEPER, which continues to be one of my favorite books and one that I (believe it or not) take out and read from time to time.
The story came to me years ago while talking to a songwriter. We’d both gone through the divorces of our parents, only his had “gotten back together” after his mother took the family pictures from the fireplace mantel. My idea came when I imagined the same scenario, but with Christmas ornaments. So often we give an ornament that tells a story of the person (like the year I gave my marathon running husband a running elf) or something that reminds us of a particular event (like the 2020 personalized ornament I purchased last year with my husband and me portrayed by toilet paper–I’m almost regretting that I did that!). The same happens with Felicia and her husband Jackson . . . every year Jackson purchased a special ornament for his wife, a woman who carries the seed of anger, bitterness, and unforgiveness buried so deeply within her, almost no one can see if. No one, that is, except Jackson.
BUT CAN MEMORY-FILLED ORNAMENTS REUNITE A FAMILY BY CHRISTMAS?
The book’s story goes like this: Separated from her husband Jackson after twenty years of marriage, Felicia Morgan is not interested in decorating for Christmas this year. But her children convince her to at least let them put up a tree. Struggling against every emotion, Felicia attempts to help her children celebrate the season. She begins to unwrap the ornaments Jackson gave her each Christmas to represent another year of their marriage and family. With each ornament, she starts to see not only the story of their marriage, but also the story of Christmas. Can she forgive him? Even more, can she forgive herself?
A Southern contemporary novella, The Ornament Keeper is a heartwarming story of how forgiveness and healing can often be a long and winding path.
I enjoyed writing this book because it gave me an opportunity to share something I feel strongly about–the act of forgiveness. When I think of all that Christ has forgiven me for, how can I not forgive others. Yet, I also know that, at times, we carry grudges we are not even aware we have.
Let’s begin this scavenger hunt! Go to the book on Amazon (HERE). This takes you to the beginning of the book. Next, read the opening and then find the answer to this question:
