I have watched this movie every Christmas (and sometimes when it’s not Christmas) for eons. It is, after all, 22 years old.
The movie begins when Terry McQuinn (Gary Sinese) is a young boy living with his widower father, “Mac.” Since the death of his wife, Mac has built a wall around his heart, shutting out feelings for anyone and everyone, including Terry.
When high school grad Terry leaves home for college, he never looks back. Now, 20 years later and just before Christmas, as a successful LA attorney, he receives a call letting him know that his father has fallen ill. He leaves immediately for the east coast, but it’s too late.
Katherine Wentworth (Joley Richardson) is a single mother of a blind child whose home is part of the estate where Mac worked. She and Terry have a history–one that haunts him and one that she cannot remember. As they fall in love, Terry struggles with whether or not to tell her the truth–not just that they knew each other as children, but that her father, who she presumes is dead, is living among the homeless in town. They are the men her uncle refers to as “fallen angels.”
Bookstore: No, but there is a children’s hospital ward.
Hot chocolate/cocoa: possibly, especially around the self-made ice rink.

Bakery: No but there is carousel.
Cute kid or pet: Yes! Olivia (same name as the kid in Dear Santa!) is adorable.
Ornament Rating: Four and a half out of five shiny red ornaments!
