This may be one of my favorites for the season . . . for one . . . Rob Lowe. For another . . . the wilds of Africa. Kristin Davis gives a solid, believably performance. And, did I mention, Rob Lowe?
Holiday in the Wild (you can watch the preview by clicking on the title), stars Kristin Davis as a woman, Kate, from Manhattan whose only child (played by Rob Lowe’s son, John Owen Lowe) has left for college. A new empty-nester, she tells her husband that she’s scheduled a second honeymoon for the two of them in the wilds of Africa. He responds by saying he is planning to leave their marriage. So, of course, Kate goes alone.
There, she meets pilot Derek Hollistan who will fly her to her destination. But on the way, he spots an orphaned baby elephant, so he stops and calls for help, unaware that Kate Conrad is Dr. Kate, a veterinarian. Now, instead of going to her paid-for cushy safari, Kate spends the next few weeks helping to nurse elephants back to health at an elephant nursery. As she falls in love with Africa—and working with animals much larger than the puppies and kittens she’s accustomed to—will she also find her purpose now that she’s no longer a wife and fulltime mother?
This is not your typical holiday movie. So . . .
Bookstore: I don’t remember one. But there are books in Rob Lowe’s tent.
Hot chocolate/cocoa: There’s coffee . . . and funny bit about African coffee.
Bakery: No, but there is a scene with lots of food for the Christmas meal.

Cute kid or pet: Baby elephants . . . so cute! And Rob Lowe’s son plays Dr. Kate’s kid, and he does resemble his father . . . so . . .
Ornament Rating: Five out of five shiny red ornaments! I may want to watch this one again . . .
I watched Holiday in the Wild on Netflix.
