At first glance, this doesn’t appear to be a Christmas movie (much like Die Hard), but it is. Because . . . well, it’s Christmas. And B, it’s Christmas.
So, here’s the story: Logan (Ian Harding) and Avery (Lindsey Lohan) were childhood sweethearts. In fact, ten years ago, Logan proposed to Avery before she left town for college. Now they haven’t seen each other in a decade. Avery is dating Jon (whose mother disapproves of Avery) and Logan is dating Cassie (whose mother adores Logan). Problem is, it’s the same mama, only Logan & Avery don’t know this.
That is, until they both show up with their new significant others to the same home during the same holiday. Whoops. Avery and Logan decide to keep their old relationship “their little secret.” But Avery and Logan are not the only two keeping secrets in this romantic holiday comedy. Seems everybody is!
There are some really funny moments in Our Little Secret as well as some heartwarming scenes. Is is worth the time to curl up with a cup of cocoa topped with whipped cream or marshmallows to watch? I’d say so. But, like so many, this may be a “watch it once and be done” kind of movie.
Bookstore: I think there may have been one in the “Secret Santa shopping” scene.
Hot chocolate/cocoa: No, but there is a really funny line about getting hot cocoa.
Bakery: I don’t remember a bakery but there was a lot of delicious food on the table. And there were cookies. LOTS of cookies. (Avery ate a stack of them, then blamed it on the dog.)
Cute kid or pet: “Mom” (Kristen Chenowith) has a little dog that takes the blame for eating the cookies. Poor baby.
Ornament Rating: 3.5 out of five shiny red ornaments!
